MapleCheck is researched by hand, one company at a time, using public filings, corporate registries, and acquisition records — not automated guessing. If you run a Canadian company we haven't covered yet, or you've spotted something inaccurate, this is how to reach us.
The one thing that matters most is how you know. A filing, a news article, a statement from the company, or first-hand knowledge all work — but without it we can't verify anything, and unverified entries stay flagged.
That last point is a separate question from ownership, and we track it separately. A company can be Canadian-owned and manufacture entirely overseas — plenty in our directory do.
Every entry is held to the same bar regardless of who submits it: public filings and corporate registries first, deal and acquisition records for private companies, and a clear "still being verified" label when sources genuinely disagree or a sale is in progress.
Self-reported ownership from someone who works at or runs the company counts as a strong source — not an automatic pass. If you tell us your own company is Canadian-owned, we'll say so and note that it came from you.
We'd rather show a company as unverified than guess. If we can't confirm something, the entry says exactly that.
If we've got an entry wrong — the ownership, the country, or a detail that's gone out of date because a company was sold — tell us. Ownership changes more often than people expect, and stale entries are the failure we most want to catch.
